This work is an ongoing investigation of a patch of soil in my backyard, that exists, juxtaposed between dwellings and slabs of concrete. Produced over several weeks, each piece captures the soil at various points in time, based on the weather and the changing soil surface. Unobstructed days of sunlight produces deep cracks in the soil, whilst rain facilitates the growth of moss. Matter 01 Photo Series (Unearthed), 2020, (below) has been captured on the 10th week of the inquiry, where the once dry crumbly soil has gradually transitioned to produce a carpet of moss and untamed greenery. The castings encapsulate moments of time from a changing environment.
