One of Many, 2016

Mergence of two forms to represent the related existence of the physical and energetic world. Although this can be subject to belief, the the ceramic tubes are a representation of the soul, of an essence, which inhabits within the human form; the notion being accepted through various faiths and cultures. In a broader sense each tube may represent a lifetime, as their form is fluid and continuous. Referencing incarnation, the continuity of the soul, the spiritual. (2016)

Soles for Souls, 2016
Every year humans waste 1.3 billion tons of food and yet each night over 750 million people go to sleep starving. ‘Soles for souls’ intertwines aspects of humanity, materialistic values and hunger; each grain represents an individual, and a footstep; a sole is a representation of their larger story, the story of their family, of their community. ‘Soles for souls’ is a direct translation of the ‘bigger picture’; the bigger picture is humanity as a whole. Change develops through a process; similarly to the growth and harvesting of rice and grains. Creating the ‘rice field’, rice harvesting and planting is such an important time. Everyone in the community assists in this process. Together each individual helps shape the ‘rice field’; they help shape the future, their own future, the future of the world and their children. We cannot simply make change; it has to go through a process, just like the growth and harvesting of rice and grains. Results eventually yield the truths, energy and efforts. Each individual grain is symbolic of the efforts, which are involved in creating a ‘footstep’, the collective unity needed in moving forward. (2016)

Continuity, 2016

Looking into the human experience; specifically how certain experiences may evoke change, which leads to growth and development. Stacking the individual pieces reinforced the rapid and constant occurrence of experiences. We experience every day, every minute. This is simply the beginning of experiences, the early stages of their manifestation, the choice has not yet been made by the individual in terms of how they will develop and grow. (2016)
Unity, 2016
The symbolism of the ‘tent’ (wooden branches that connect over the vessels) triangle may take on many concepts; I developed the form Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the ‘futures triangle’. The ‘futures triangle’ connects back to humanity and existence on a whole, at each point lies the past, present and future. The future is created in the present; but sometimes the present succumbs to habit and so the future evolves from the past. I connected the ‘tent’ frame to an idea of home, not necessarily a house, but the feeling of home, comfort and belonging. Tents symbolize protection, but often only temporary. The vessels represent abundance of resources that the world has and how they are continuing to grow and develop. This refers to how each grain symbolizes a human, and the vessels collectively symbolize the earth. As each human lives, grows, experiences and develops they create an impact in the world. This circles back to abundance; there is so much in the world, why can’t we share it? (2016)
